Called to the Singapore Bar in 2007, Richway is a Director of TLC Law . He is also a Barrister of the Inner Temple, England & Wales. Richway’s practice spans complex commercial litigation, cross-border arbitration, white-collar crime, and regulatory matters. In addition, he has deep expertise in media and entertainment law, having previously served as General Counsel of Southeast Asia’s leading content and media fund. Clients value his versatility, strategic insight, and ability to deliver practical solutions in high-stakes disputes.
 


 

Disputes & Arbitration

Richway has acted in numerous landmark disputes involving multi-jurisdictional issues and claims exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars. His experience includes:
•Representing Société Générale Bank in defending a US$198 million claim by Jurong Shipyard, a subsidiary of SembCorp  Marine, in proceedings before the Singapore High Court.
•Acting for an international private equity firm in a shareholder dispute arising from a US$260 million leveraged buy-out of  a technology company, with proceedings in Singapore, Mauritius, and the UK.
•Successfully acting for Alstom Technology in the landmark Insigma v Alstom cases before both the Singapore High Court      and Court of Appeal, which clarified the administration of arbitrations under the ICC Rules by SIAC.
•Obtaining a Mareva injunction freezing over US$135 million in assets in proceedings against a global entity used to          perpetrate a Ponzi scheme.
•Acting successfully for clients in multiple SIAC and ICC arbitrations across Asia and the Middle East, including disputes      involving commodities, construction, energy, and technology sectors.

 

White-Collar Crime & Regulatory

Richway also advises on criminal and regulatory matters, with a particular focus on white-collar crime. Notably, he represented a youth offender in connection with the high-profile OCBC scam cases, securing a probationary sentence instead of imprisonment. He has also acted in proceedings involving financial misconduct, regulatory breaches, and professional disciplinary inquiries.

Media & Entertainment

Richway previously served as General Counsel and Partner at Aurora Media Holdings, Southeast Asia’s leading media content fund. He oversaw legal, regulatory, and corporate matters, advised on film financing and international co-productions, and chaired the Audit and Financial Committee. During his tenure, AMH co-produced Storm Boy (2019), the highest-grossing Australian-made film of the year, and Bottom of the Ninth (2019), a Hollywood feature endorsed by the New York Yankees. He also led negotiations on projects with budgets exceeding US$10 million, cross-border share swaps worth over US$30 million, and investment partnerships with Screen Australia and global distributors.
 

Corporate Counsel & Industry Experience

Richway was formerly Lead Counsel for Siemens’s Oil, Gas & Marine Division across Asia-Pacific, where he advised on projects valued between US$10 million and EUR500 million, including the Yamal LNG Project in Russia and the Upper Zakum Project in Abu Dhabi. His work covered EPC contracts, project financing arrangements, and managing complex disputes across multiple jurisdictions. His sectoral experience spans oil and gas, construction, banking, technology, fintech, logistics, and media.

Additional Contributions

Richway is active in the legal community and pro bono initiatives, having volunteered at the Singapore Law Society’s Legal Advice Clinic and other community legal outreach programmes since 2007. He has also been invited to speak at film festivals and industry conferences on content financing and media law, including the Cannes Film Festival, Singapore Media Festival, Video Exchange Asia and the Asian TV Forum.
